Lifelong Sharpness

Knives Made in America

Blade care

The Friction ForgedĀ® edge zone is corrosion proof but the rest of the blade is not. To help reduce staining, discoloration, and rusting, we apply a rust inhibitor coating to each blade. Proper care is important and must be maintained to prevent damage. We recommend that you keep the knife blade clean and well oiled. You may clean the knife with a mild soap and water, dry immediately, and coat the blade with a food grade or petroleum oil to further prevent any staining or rusting on the main knife body. If you are going to store the knives for a long period of time, we recommend you remove the knife from the sheath and coat the blade with oil.

Blade Feeling Dull?
If your hunting/butchering blade seems to just ā€œquit cuttingā€, try cleaning it with WD40 or other solvent. This will remove the invisible layer of fat that fills the micro-serrations of the blade making it appear to ā€œdullā€ all at once. This layer cannot be removed with soap and water alone.

sheath care

DiamondBladeā€™s leather sheaths are manufactured from only the finest American split grained cowhide leather that is vegetable tanned and oiled. It is not covered in the knife warranty but it will last a lifetime with proper care. Proper care includes not drying a wet sheath over high heat and keeping the sheath clean with saddle soap and then reconditioning the sheath with Renaissance Wax, Mink Oil, Snow Seal or other leather care products. The sheaths are Kydexā„¢ lined to prevent the extremely sharp knife edge from contacting the leather.

FREE Lifetime sharpening

Even a DiamondBlade Knife will eventually need to be sharpened. While our blade edges last 10x longer, they do eventually dull with a lot of use.

When we manufacture the Friction ForgedĀ® blades, we place approximately a four-degree wedge grind from the blade spine to the edge. Craftsmen place the final edge grind on each blade by hand. Our final edge grind angle is 15 degrees on all hunting blades.

We have found that this very thin edge geometry produces a blade that is very strong yet easy to resharpen. It is important that when you re-sharpen the knife, you maintain the same angle our craftsmen established. Because Friction ForgingĀ® creates an extra hard and tough edge zone (and thus the superior cutting and sharpness performance characteristics), it will take a special abrasive to sharpen the knife. We recommend that you use either the Norton ā€œFine Indiaā€ aluminum oxide stone or any of the better quality diamond hones. A 320 grit will produce a good working edge by creating microscopic serrations that facilitate slice style cutting common in field-dressing applications. Sharpening devices that set the correct angle are perfect for resharpening.

If you are not comfortable with sharpening, our Sharpening Service is a good option. There is no cost for sharpening. Return shipping is $20.
